Molisan Aquasol disinfectant solution

Description

A disinfectant completely harmless to people (and all warm-blooded animals), food and the environment! 1. General information.

1.1 Neutral anolyte (hereinafter Aquasol), produced by electrochemical treatment of an aqueous sodium chloride solution, is a colourless liquid with a chlorine odour, containing highly active oxygen compounds of chlorine and other components.

Depending on its intended use, Aquasol is produced and used with an active chlorine concentration of 0.01%–0.05% and a pH of 7.2–8.2.

Use Aquasol undiluted, once only. Its usable life is 5–10 days while retaining sporicidal properties and 30–40 days while retaining bactericidal properties, provided it is stored in a closed glass, plastic or enamelled container with an undamaged surface, at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.

1.2 Aquasol has antimicrobial (virucidal, bactericidal, fungicidal, tuberculocidal and sporicidal) and cleaning properties.

In the presence of organic contaminants (blood, faeces and others), Aquasol’s disinfecting properties decrease.

1.3 In terms of its effects on the body, Aquasol belongs to Class IV, low-hazard substances, under GOST 12.1.007-76. It has low toxicity when it enters the stomach or is applied to the skin; when administered parenterally, it has no local irritating effect on the skin or the mucous membranes of the eyes. Vapour from Aquasol with an active chlorine concentration of 0.05% slightly irritates the upper respiratory tract and the mucous membranes of the eyes, while repeated skin exposure may cause dryness. Aquasol with active chlorine concentrations of 0.01%, 0.02% and 0.03% does not cause irritation.

1.4 Aquasol is used to disinfect various objects in cases of infections of bacterial, viral and fungal origin.

2. Use of Aquasol for disinfection.

2.1 Aquasol is used to disinfect various objects (room surfaces, patient-care items, tableware, linen, toys, sanitary fixtures and various equipment used in the food industry) in cases of infections of bacterial origin (including tuberculosis), viral origin (including AIDS and parenterally transmitted hepatitis) and fungal origin (including candidiasis and dermatophytosis); it is also used for pre-sterilisation cleaning and sterilisation of medical devices made of glass, plastic, rubber and metal, including titanium alloys.

2.2 Disinfection with Aquasol is performed by wiping (room surfaces and sanitary fixtures) or immersion (medical devices, patient-care items, tableware, linen, toys and cleaning materials).

2.3 Wipe room surfaces (floors, walls and furniture) and sanitary fixtures once or twice, at a 15-minute interval, with a cloth thoroughly soaked in Aquasol. Moisten the treated surface evenly. The Aquasol consumption rate is 200 ml/m² for a single treatment and 300–400 ml/m² for a double treatment.

Thoroughly pre-clean heavily soiled sanitary fixtures with a brush soaked in anolyte.

2.4 Disinfect medical devices, including when disinfection is combined with pre-sterilisation cleaning, in covered plastic or undamaged enamelled containers. Disinfection schedules are given in Tables 1 and 2. Fully immerse the devices in anolyte. Use special tools (a syringe or pipette) to fill the devices’ channels and cavities with Aquasol, displacing air bubbles. Treat disassemblable devices in their disassembled state. Immerse hinged instruments (scissors and dressing forceps) in anolyte in the open position, then operate them several times to allow anolyte to enter the hinged parts.

After the disinfection exposure time has elapsed, the instruments are rinsed for one minute under running drinking water or placed for one minute in a basin of water so that all cavities and channels are thoroughly rinsed.

2.5 Fully immerse patient-care items in anolyte; after the disinfection time has elapsed, rinse them under running water until the chlorine odour has completely disappeared.

2.6 Remove food residues from tableware and fully immerse it in anolyte. The Aquasol consumption rate is 2 L per set (two plates and one cup or glass). After disinfection, rinse each item separately under running drinking water for one minute, or fully immerse the items in a tank of water for one minute.

2.7 Metal tableware must not be disinfected with Aquasol.

2.8 Fully immerse linen in anolyte. The Aquasol consumption rate is 5 L per 1 kg of dry linen. After disinfection, wash and rinse the linen in water.

2.9 Fully immerse toys in anolyte and, after disinfection, rinse them under running water until the chlorine odour has completely disappeared.

2.10 Fully immerse cleaning materials (cloths) in anolyte; after the disinfection time has elapsed, rinse them in water and dry them.

3. Use of Aquasol for pre-sterilisation cleaning of medical devices without disinfection.

3.1 Aquasol is used for pre-sterilisation cleaning of medical devices without disinfection according to the schedules in Table 3, using containers and immersion procedures analogous to those specified in section 2.4.

3.2 The quality of pre-sterilisation cleaning of medical devices is checked using amidopyrine or azopyram tests for residual blood, following the methods described in “Guidelines for Pre-Sterilisation Cleaning of Medical Devices” (No. 28-6/13, 08.06.1982) and “Guidelines for Checking Pre-Sterilisation Cleaning of Medical Devices Using Azopyram Reagent” (No. 28-6/13, 25.05.1988).

3.3 Check 1% of simultaneously treated items of the same type, but no fewer than 3 units.

In 2006, the disinfectant neutral anolyte was added to the list of disinfectants, insect-control and rodent-control products as an addition to Order No. 64/6 of 19 March 2002 (Annex No. 8).
